FINGERPRINTS ON LEADERSHIP
GOAL
To transition to a structure more aligned with NCACPA’s strategy, allowing more people to serve & volunteers
INITIATIVE
We restructured all our Resource & Networking Groups and added new ones that represent a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive culture and added opportunities for any who want to volunteer to do so.
“The path to diversity begins with supporting, mentoring,
and sponsoring diverse women and men to become leaders and entrepreneurs.”
– Denise Morrison
Fingerprints impacting the accounting community
The NCACPA DEI Resource Group touches every aspect of NCACPA’s DEI efforts and initiatives. This group is rooted in evidence-based practices and informed by the insights of our staff, leadership, and membership, making the association and profession more inclusive and influential.
Summary of DEI Resource Group Priorities:
Increase the pipeline:
- Identify current CPA candidates who might need assistance and encouragement to complete the CPA exam
- Find ways to systemically work with HBCUs and Community Colleges in North Carolina
- Find a way to have more contact with high schools and middle schools, including high school counselors, to promote the profession
- Increase the pipeline with attention to diversity
Maintain the pipeline:
- Use projects and initiatives to raise awareness among NCACPA members and their companies about the importance of DEI initiatives for attracting and maintaining talent
Leverage NCACPA Efforts to Promote DEI Issues
Coordination with the NCACPA Education Resource Group, NCACPA Foundation (scholarships), and NCACPA to ensure that DEI is a focus across the organization and to leverage efforts

Increase the reach and influence of the Association through expanding networking groups and creating a clear link between resource groups and the networking groups.
Serve the needs of designated markets through resource groups and networking groups.
Provide services to NCACPA members as well as non-members, creating greater inclusion for all in the accounting profession.
The responsibility and commitment of DEI is shared by all NCACPA’s volunteer groups—annual action plans reflect the related goals of each group.
A Foundation built for a brighter future
Attracting and supporting high quality students with a diversified education and background is needed to overcome the accounting profession’s talent shortage. NCACPA, the DEI Resource Group, and the NC CPA Foundation work together to expand the Foundation’s reach and serve marginalized, oppressed populations of future accounting professionals.
