The North Carolina Association of CPAs is deeply committed to our focus on diversity and inclusion, a focus embedded in valuing and respecting individuals and their perspectives, and working to promote true inclusiveness within our organization and the accounting profession we serve.
We are unable to give true meaning to the words above without acknowledging the extremely disturbing events occurring in our country, without stating that we stand with our black citizens, and without condemning systemic racism and social injustice. The recent tragic deaths of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and George Floyd clearly remind us we must be part of driving positive change. Black members of our association community, and our NCACPA team, are hurting. We stand in solidarity with them in this time of grief, anger, and pain.
We can do more – and we will – to bring a strong message of anti-racism to the accounting profession and to the business community. We will continue to bring to the table experts in diversity and inclusion, and we will put what we learn into action.
NCACPA will work to create new opportunities for engagement, understanding, and action. That is our commitment to the accounting profession, to our members, to the clients and companies our members serve, to our NCACPA team, and to the communities where we live and work.
