The Association was notified that the NCDOR will be mailing over 10,000 notices to persons who have an electrical contractor license with the State of North Carolina. The document may be accessed at the following link: www.dornc.com/taxes/sales/contractorletter2016.pdf. The NCDOR has asked that members assist with forwarding the information discussed and referenced herein to others whom you believe will benefit. The document is intended to brief and provide general information to persons who may have a sales or use tax collection responsibility or liability on or after January 1, 2017, who may not be aware of key legislative changes, and who also may not be registered for sales and use tax purposes currently.
Additionally, the Department will be mailing this notice to approximately 196,000 registered sales and use tax registrants later this week which is a supplement of items that were referenced in Form E-505 where additional information was noted to be provided by November 15, 2016. Per an NCDOR representative, the document will be added to the Department’s website within the next couple of days.
