NCACPA, in partnership with AICPA, announced the recipients for the annual Women to Watch Awards, presented to this year’s winners at the Professional Women’s Conference in Cary, NC, on October 21, 2016.
Theresa Drew and Stacee Rash received the “Experienced Leader” and “Emerging Leader” awards, respectively, which recognize their achievements as not only leaders in the accounting profession themselves, but as pioneers in the advancement of women as leaders.
Theresa Drew, of Charlotte, NC, is the Deloitte Managing Partner, Carolinas Practice, where she is responsible for over 1,000 people. She currently serves as the Lead Client Service Partner and as Advisory Partner for several attest and non-attest clients. Theresa received the “Experienced Leader” Award, which recognizes her notable contributions to the accounting profession, her organization, and to the development of women as leaders.
One colleague used the following words to describe Theresa, “Accomplished leader. Dedicated. Strong and tenacious. A driver and an Innovator. A team player and someone who shares recognition and success for a job well done. When I think about Theresa Drew, my friend and respected colleague, these are the things that come to mind.”
Stacee Rash, of Hickory, NC, received the “Emerging Leader” award for demonstrating the characteristics necessary to becoming a leader in the accounting profession. A tax manager at Martin Starnes & Associates, CPAs, PA, Stacee provides a high level of client service, develops and executes department and firm objectives, mentors staff, and works with peers and senior management.
A colleague of Stacee’s wrote, “At the early age of 30, Stacee was promoted to tax manager. Some qualifications of being promoted to manager are the ability to serve in leadership roles, be a positive role model and mentor, display exceptional knowledge, be an active member of the AICPA and NCACPA, and demonstrate a consistent behavior in serving clients with excellence. Through active participation with NCACPA, Hickory Young Professionals, and the Hickory Junior Women’s League, she has had numerous opportunities to fulfill her volunteer activities and civic duties. Stacee has stepped up and taken a leadership position with all three of these organizations.”
Please join us in congratulating both Theresa and Stacee for not only contributing to the advancement of the accounting profession, but also for elevating the role of women in the field.
