High School & College Strategies
“Seed early interest in accounting by illustrating the variety of
career opportunities within accounting.”
Reaching students to increase their awareness and understanding of the accounting profession involves a multi-faceted approach. Showcasing the diverse career paths available in accounting helps dispel the notion that the profession is “boring” and limited to “number crunching,” illuminating the exciting opportunities in areas like forensic accounting or international finance.
This not only broadens the appeal of the profession but also enables students to find specific areas that align with their passions and skills. Additionally, creating and sharing content for students on the social channels they use makes accounting more accessible and relatable, increasing its appeal to a younger demographic.
Asking current members to volunteer for speaking engagements at schools and universities is a powerful tool for inspiring and educating future professionals. It provides students with real-world insights and personal narratives that can motivate and inform their career choices. It also helps professionals give back to the community and stay engaged with the grassroots of the profession.
