Dear Symposium Conference Committee member,
Thank you for your participation and assistance with the 80th Symposium. It was another successful year and such a feat could not have been achieved without a lot of time and effort spent by committee members.
It is time to begin focusing on Symposium 2020! I’d like to get an idea of your interest in continuing to serve on the committee before our next meeting in January 2020. Because this meeting is extremely important to planning the next Symposium, it will be very helpful to understand the level for which you are willing and able to participate. As you know, NCACPA has many committees who work diligently to help the Association grow and thrive year after year. We are so very grateful for dedicated volunteers like you who dedicate their time and energy to ensure NCACPA remains the essential resource for its members and the communities it serves. Your participation ensures NCACPA’s delivery of relevant information, as well as outstanding programs and events. It also allows for the identification of future initiatives impacting our profession.
We have found over the past few years that although many volunteers serve on the committee, the levels of participation can vary drastically. As a result, the efforts are somewhat skewed to a smaller group of volunteers in attending meetings, participating in conference calls, identifying session speakers, reviewing drafted session materials and attending events we sponsor. To ensure participation on the committee remains enjoyable for all, we want to make sure that committee responsibilities are clearly stated and understood prior to recommitment in 2020.
Please review the member responsibilities, and using the form below, indicate whether you would like to continue your service on the Symposium Conference Committee. Please respond by January 15, 2020 prior to our first meeting in January. As an active and dedicated committee member, I trust you will strive to participate fully and find your involvement to be a rewarding professional experience. If you do not respond by January 15, 2020, your name will be removed from the committee roster for the coming year (if you are removed from the roster, but would like to continue your service, you will need to contact me to discuss your intended participation). The invitation is always open for you to rejoin if you believe you can fulfill the committee member responsibilities better in another year.
Symposium Conference Committee Member Responsibilities:
- Participate in at least 60% of all scheduled committee meetings, which include two face-to-face meetings (January and November), and monthly conference calls on the first Tuesday of each month, March through November;
- Identify, recruit and secure session speakers;
- Perform assigned session review(s) of materials and work with speakers in finalizing presentations prior to stated deadlines;
- Attend and assist with the symposium registration and introducing speakers; and
- Collaborate with NCACPA staff members on tasks as requested.
I appreciate your time and continued support of the Association. We look forward to hearing from by January 15, 2020.
Best regards,
Stan Hill
2020 Chair, Symposium Conference Committee
