About the Speakers:
Robert Broome, CAE: As NCACPA Director of Advocacy, Robert works with our members to develop, implement, and communicate the association’s public policy agenda to legislators and regulators. He serves as staff liaison to several NCACPA Resource Groups, including Advocacy, Tax, Government, and Accounting & Attestation. Robert has more than two decades of experience in government relations and executive management for professional associations. A native of Tennessee, he worked in Nashville and Atlanta before moving to Raleigh in 2013. He earned his Certified Association Executive credential in 2020, and he serves on the Board of Directors for Association Executives of North Carolina.
Iris Laws, CPA: Iris Laws is a tax senior manager with Forvis Mazars’ Washington National Tax Office (WNTO), where she serves as the Knowledge Transfer Strategist. In this role, she is charged with the holistic strategy of tax knowledge share, whether it be through the firm’s FORsight articles, webinars, conferences, and beyond. Providing timely, strategic, and action-oriented content to help our clients and prospects, she coordinates with our Forvis Mazars specialists to help ensure we provide useful information for businesses and individuals alike. Her team actively monitors upcoming and newly issued legislation, maintaining relationships with lawmakers to help ensure Forvis Mazars is on the cutting edge of what’s next in the tax world.
In her time with the firm’s Professional Standards Group, she served as the co-chair of the firm’s Inflation Reduction Act initiative. Additionally, she created firm resources and templates, conducted internal and external training, and performed concurring reviews of complex returns. She served as a subject matter expert (SME) in the Subchapter K and Partnership AAR groups. Iris was a member of the firm’s construction and real estate industry practice, but also has experience serving clients in the commercial products and private equity industries.
Outside of FORVIS, she sits on both the NCACPA’s Advisory Council and Young Professional Cabinet. She is also a part of the Wake Forest Business School Alumni Council.
Iris graduated from Wake Forest University and received a Master of Science in Accountancy from the same institution.
