About the speakers:
Ashley Baum, CPA, is a proud mom to two wonderful daughters, aged 5 and 8. Currently serving as a Senior Manager at Elliott Davis PLLC, she holds key roles as a member of the Professional Practice Group and as the Audit Team Leader for the Raleigh office. Ashley specializes in financial audit, offering expertise in navigating complex accounting scenarios and ensuring audit quality. Her career has spanned multiple roles in premier accounting firms and regulatory organizations.
Marie McLucas, CPA is the Chief Financial Officer for Primax Properties and is responsible for oversight of policies and procedures for all financial functions, along with strategic and succession planning. Since joining Primax in 1995, Marie has been instrumental in the successful completion of over 1000 projects in 35 states, including over 40 projects under development. Marie is a repeat mentor for CBJ’s Mentoring Monday event, CREW’s national and local formal mentor programs and the NCACPA. Marie serves/served on the boards of Girl Scouts, Hornets’ Nest Council, Career Mastered, American Cancer Society (Area) , , CREW Charlotte and CREW Network Foundation, holding many chair, officer and co-chair positions. She was recently appointed to the CREW Network and FFTC Cabarrus County Community Foundation Board. She is actively involved in Making Strides against Breast Cancer and the Primax Pink Warrior Team. Marie has received numerous professional awards and recognitions from organizations such as the NCACPA, Real Estate Forum Magazine, Connect Media, Globe St., CREW Network, Career Mastered, The Mecklenburg Times, and the Charlotte Business Journal. Marie earned her accounting degree from NC State University, graduating Summa Cum Laude. Marie enjoys fishing, golf, reading and trail riding with her husband in her free time.
Mitali Shah, CPA: I currently serve as City of Charlotte’s Debt Manager. In such capacity, I work with all city departments to secure short and long-term capital financing needs for projects such as streets, neighborhoods, housing, airport, water and sewer, storm water, transit and tourism. I have been in this role for about 1.5 years. In my 10-year tenure with the City I have served in multiple roles within the Finance department, including Financial Reporting Accountant where I worked on producing City’s Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (annually audited financial statements). Prior to working with City of Charlotte, I worked with various Public Accounting firms as Auditor. I have my MBA in Accounting from University of New Haven Connecticut. I am licensed CPA since 2011.
