Good decisions start with good information.
This week, NCACPA contacted members of North Carolina’s congressional delegation to urge cosponsorship of H.R. 7026, the Fiscal State of the Nation Act.
The bill would create an annual, bipartisan hearing where Congress receives a presentation on the federal government’s audited financial statements. It is a practical step to ensure policymakers have a clear, consistent view of the nation’s fiscal condition.
For CPAs, this is familiar territory. Reliable financial information is the foundation of sound decision making, whether for a business, a client, or our country.
Public support for this issue is strong. National polling shows that 81 percent of Americans support providing Congress with an annual report on the nation’s audited financial statements.
A sample letter is attached. NCACPA will continue to engage on issues where the CPA profession can help inform better policy and strengthen accountability.
