8A: The Art and Science of Financial Leadership: KPIs, Storytelling, and CFO Strategies
Bob Mims

Numbers alone rarely inspire action, but stories do. Today’s finance professionals must move beyond reporting results and learn how to translate financial data, KPIs, and trends into compelling business narratives that drive decisions. This session explores the powerful combination of financial storytelling, performance metrics, and CFO-level thinking to help leaders communicate with greater influence and impact. Through real-world examples and practical techniques, participants will learn how to transform financial information into meaningful insights that resonate with boards, executives, clients, and operational teams. Whether you are an Audit Partner, Tax Professional, CFO, Controller, or Fractional CFO, the ability to tell the story behind the numbers may be your most valuable communication skill.
Session Learning Objectives:
· Why does storytelling always beat data-dumping in financial communication?
· Anatomy of a great financial story: structure, characters, and turning points
· The role of context, trends, and insights in financial messaging
· How Apple uses financial storytelling to engage stakeholders
· Visual tools and techniques to support your narrative
· Communicating with non-financial audiences: clarity without oversimplification
· Emphasis on why this component of communication may be the most important aspect for an Audit partner, Tax professional, CFO/Controller, and Fractional CFO

9A: Activate and Execute Your Strategy: Turn Planning into Results
Bob Mims

Most strategic plans fail not because they are poorly written, but because they are poorly executed. This session explores why organizations struggle to turn plans into performance and how finance leaders can bridge the gap between strategy, risk management, and results. Through practical examples, lessons from successful and failed companies, and a healthy dose of humor, participants will learn how to align financial metrics with strategic objectives, build accountability, and determine whether their current plan deserves refinement, or a complete restart. If your strategy isn’t driving results, it may be time to rethink it.
Session Objectives:
· The strategy-execution gap: common reasons why most strategic plans fail
· Why should financial planning lead strategy?
· Evaluating the lifespan and relevance of your strategic plan
· Building your strategy to include risk management
· Building an adaptive, finance-focused strategic approach
· What we should learn from the rise and fall of major companies
· How to align financial metrics with strategy

GS8: Decoding Team Chemistry: The Love Language of Collaboration
Robert Broome

This session delivers a fresh, energizing perspective on leadership by connecting three core pillars of professional success: Conation, Leadership, and Relationships. In this interactive and thought-provoking session, it explores how high-performing individuals and teams can leverage their natural instincts (conation), elevate their leadership presence, and build meaningful relationships, both in and out of the workplace.
Accountants and financial professionals are often tasked with more than technical expertise. They must communicate across departments, lead under pressure, and drive results in a people-centric world. This session introduces attendees to the science of conation, helping them understand how their instinctive approach to problem-solving directly impacts their leadership style, team dynamics, and personal relationships. We pair this with real-world leadership strategies and practical relationship-building tools that professionals can apply immediately in client meetings, team collaborations, and their personal lives.
Participants gain insight into how self-awareness and conative strengths can unlock better decision-making, reduce burnout, and increase workplace harmony. The session is designed to be engaging, insightful, and packed with practical takeaways—perfect for the modern finance professional who wants to lead with greater purpose and authenticity.
Learning Objectives:
     *  Identify the core components of conation and how they influence individual decision-making,  leadership effectiveness, and interpersonal dynamics in a professional setting.
     *  Apply relationship-building strategies that enhance workplace communication, team collaboration, and client engagement.
     *  Evaluate leadership behaviors and conative strengths to improve self-awareness, reduce friction, and align team roles for optimal performance.
