This session delivers a practical, compliance‑driven overview of charitable contribution deductions under IRC §170, with a focused look at conservation easements and other high‑risk gifts. Taught by a former IRS Subject Matter Expert and a former IRS Chief Counsel attorney involved in the IRS Conservation Easement Campaign, the session covers core requirements for deductibility—qualified organizations, charitable intent, quid pro quo rules, partial‑interest limits, and valuation standards—along with essential substantiation and documentation rules, including acknowledgments, Forms 8283 and 8282, qualified appraisals, and reasonable‑cause considerations.
