As part of its ongoing efforts to improve the taxpayer experience, the NC Department of Revenue will retire all service center phone numbers effective November 13, 2026. These numbers previously appeared on the NCDOR website and on Garnishment Notices and Certificates of Tax Liability notifications.
The following updates have been implemented or will take effect soon:
- Service center phone numbers have been removed from the NCDOR website.
- A new toll-free number, 877-919-2119, has been designated to replace service center numbers previously associated with staff in those locations. This number first appeared on certain NCDOR notices mailed beginning October 14, 2026.
- For general assistance, taxpayers and tax professionals may continue to contact NCDOR Customer Service at 877-252-3052 or the Tax practitioners’ line at 919-754-2500.
- Taxpayers and tax professionals should refer to the phone number listed on their specific notice whenever possible.
