The fifth annual CPA Day of Service is coming up on Friday, September 23, 2016! Nearly six years ago, this day of service arose from a simple yet powerful challenge a member brought to the NCACPA Board of Directors—to plan a day where members could take to their communities and give back in some way.
In its inaugural year, the CPA Day of Service broke records and completely redefined what success could look like for an event of this kind. Better yet, it showed that CPAs are a vital part of North Carolina communities, in more than one way.
For me, the CPA Day of Service has been a meaningful way to bond with fellow CPAs as we all give back to our communities together. For the past several years, I’ve had the pleasure of serving with the Mooresville team of Potter & Company at the Mooresville Soup Kitchen. Together we all prepared a meal for over 100 guests and then served the meal. It is heartwarming to give to others by “doing,” and seeing the impact it has on other lives.
If you look on the CPA Day of Service homepage, you’ll see a list of firms and organizations that have registered so far, and is updated regularly. We look forward to seeing those registrations grow as we get closer to the event!
I encourage you to use this Connect thread to share how you will be participating in CPA Day of Service. And don’t forget, there will be social media contests the day of the event with exciting prizes!
I look forward to hearing how our CPA network plans to give back to their local communities across the state on this very special day.
