AICPA and CIMA Launch New CGMA Designation

February 02, 2012

On January 31, 2012, the AICPA and the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) launched the Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) designation. The CGMA elevates the role of management accounting, recognizes the immense experience and expertise US CPAs bring to positions within business, and ensures those guiding critical decisions adhere to a stringent code of ethics and keep their skills up to date with market needs.

Qualified members of the AICPA will receive the CGMA welcome kit, which summarizes the many benefits of the designation. The welcome kit invites you to use the CGMA letters and access the resources located at
www.cgma.org for an introductory period, at no cost. If you would like to keep the CGMA designation and its benefits, you will have a chance to register in July 2012 through the AICPA’s annual dues renewal process. Those who are dual AICPA-NCACPA members will save $50 off the annual $150 CGMA registration fee, for a cost of $100. Additional information can be found on the AICPA’s website and at www.cgma.org.
