TAX RESOURCES - State Filing Deadlines

The IRS has extended the deadline for taxpayers to file their 2006 federal returns and pay any taxes due until April 17, 2007. (www.irs.gov/newsroom/article/0,,id=167194,00.html)

Each state has their own filing deadline and many (though not all) have elected to follow the federal rule and allow taxpayers an extra day to file state income taxes. We receive inquiries from members seeking information on other state deadlines, so we acquired a listing of filing deadlines from other states. Please refer to the below list of the fifty states and their corresponding filing deadlines. For more information on each state's deadline, please click on the link, where applicable.

Alabama: April 17, 2007

Alaska: No state income tax

Arizona: April 16, 2007 (Pending Governor's emergency legislation to make deadline April 17)

Arkansas: April 17, 2007

California: April 17, 2007

Connecticut: April 17, 2007

Colorado: April 17, 2007

Delaware: April 30, 2007

Florida: No state income tax

Georgia: April 17, 2007

Hawaii: April 20, 2007

Idaho: April 17, 2007

Illinois: April 17, 2007

Indiana: April 16, 2007 (Still pending)

Iowa: April 30, 2007

Kansas: April 17, 2007

Kentucky: April 17, 2007

Louisiana: May 15, 2007

Maine: April 17, 2007

Maryland: April 17, 2007 (Pass-through entity income tax returns (Form 510) and fiscal year corporate returns due April 15 must still be filed by Monday, April 16, 2007.)

Massachusetts: April 17, 2007

Michigan: April 17, 2007

Minnesota: April 17, 2007

Mississippi: April 17, 2007

Missouri: April 17, 2007

Montana: April 16, 2007 (Can't extend deadline unless there is a national holiday.)

Nebraska: April 17, 2007

Nevada: No state income tax

New Hampshire: No state income tax

New Jersey: April 17, 2007 (Other NJ Filing Dates)

New Mexico: Filing by paper - April 16, 2007; Filing/paying electronically - April 30, 2007

New York: April 16 (April 17 if filing your federal return at the IRS Service Center in Andover, MA)

North Carolina: April 17, 2007

North Dakota: April 17, 2007

Ohio: April 17, 2007

Oklahoma: April 16, 2007

Oregon: April 17, 2007

Pennsylvania: April 17, 2007

Rhode Island: April 17, 2007

South Carolina: April 17, 2007

South Dakota: No state income tax

Tennessee: April 17, 2007

Texas: No state income tax

Utah: April 16, 2007

Vermont: April 17, 2007

Virginia: May 1, 2007

Washington: No state income tax
