This session begins by summarizing recent economic and financial developments. We will then consider the economics of persistent budget
deficits and steps to reduce them; the consequences of quantitative easing by the Federal Reserve; and the necessary steps to prevent inflationary
repercussions, trade deficits, and external borrowing. Then we will turn to a consideration of alternative scenarios for monetary and fiscal policy
and their economic consequences. Finally, we will consider the most likely economic developments over the coming year and their effects.

Back to the Future: A Historical and Forward-Thinking Look at Healthcare Reform

We will begin this session with a historical perspective of reform through past presidencies and examine passage of the Patient Protection and
Affordable Care Act (PPACA) in 2010. You will gain a better understanding of the basis and status of the legislative and judicial challenges facing
the law. We’ll also examine the provisions that have taken effect since PPACA’s enactment as well as those slated to take effect in 2011. Impending
major changes to PPACA for 2012 and beyond will be reviewed as well as leave with specific action items to help employers prepare for reform.
We will conclude by identifying and addressing some possible unintended consequences of reform, and a Q & A session.
