Other Continuing Education Credits Certified Financial Planner (CFP) & CPAs holding a CFP credential must take their continuing education from a vendor registered with the CFP Board of Standards. CFP-approved courses are identified in all of NCACPA’s promotional materials by the&icon. (Effective January 1, 2006) Educational
requirements for CFP credential holders
are 30 hours of continuing education
each reporting period. This means 2
hours from a CFP Board-approved program
on CFP Board’s Code of Ethics and
Professional Responsibility and/or
Financial Planning Practice Standards;
and 28 hours from one or more of the
topics approved by the CFP Board.
NCACPA’s Professional Ethics and Conduct
seminar does not satisfy the CFP ethics
requirement since it does not review the
specific professional standards set by
the CFP Board. For more information, visit the CFP website at www.cfp.net. Continuing Legal Education (CLE) § Many of NCACPA programs will qualify for continuing legal education credits. At your request, NCACPA will submit CPE programs to the North Carolina State Bar under our sponsorship agreement. Be aware, North Carolina State Bar rules require courses are submitted within 45 day of occurrence or by December 31. Taking a course in November or December? Let us know in advance and we’ll take care of the approval request. Legal professionals will be responsible for reporting, record maintenance, and associated CLE fees. Some NCACPA programs, such as conferences, both 2- and 4-hour ethics, and Don Farmer Tax Seminars, are submitted in advance for CLE approval. Courses submitted for CLE approval are identified in all of NCACPA’s promotional materials by §.

Requirements for Continuing Professional
Education G Courses that satisfy the Yellow Book requirement are identified in all of NCACPA’s promotional materials by G. The vendor has identified this course as satisfying the 80-hour requirement for Yellow Book. It is up to the individual to determine if this course meets the 24-hour yellow book requirement. This is not an all-inclusive list, as the professional must determine if other courses will enhance their ability to perform GAGAS engagements.
