W-2 Information From SSA: The Social Security Administration has created an Employer Information and Reporting Instruction website for employers to meet their wage reporting requirements. The website includes forms and instructions, new topics, and vendor listings. There is a free newsletter available at www.socialsecurity.gov/employer. Online License Renewal: Online license renewal is now available on the NC State Board of CPA Examiners’ website, www.nccpaboard.gov. To renew online, you must have your Social Security number, CPA certificate number, number of CPE hours completed, and a valid MasterCard or Visa. The Board is not sending paper renewal forms to licensees. 2006-07 NCACPA CPE Curriculum Online: The complete course catalog for the 2006 CPE season is LIVE on our website. Visit www.ncacpa.org, click the ‘Register for CPE’ link in the top right corner of your screen, and browse our complete list of courses by field of study, location, or date. Pro Bono Contributions: There are increasing opportunities for members to provide services to charitable and philanthropic organizations with limited funds. If you would like for your name to be mentioned when a deserving organization calls, please contact us at memberservice@ncacpa.org or call (800) 722-2836. Through a partnership with the NC Center for Nonprofits, your name will be placed in a database and will be given to an inquiring organization when requested. Bylaw Change: In accordance with article XV of the association’s bylaws, the NCACPA Board of Directors approved a change to the bylaws. The title of the chief elected volunteers will be changed from President and President-Elect to Chair and Chair-Elect of the board of directors, respectively. The title of the chief staff officer will also change from Executive Director to Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The amendments to the bylaws will become effective upon the vote of the membership during the 2006 NCACPA Annual Business Meeting. Rick Niswander will be elected Chair of the board, and Hunter Cook will be elected Chair-Elect.
IRS: The
IRS is hosting a free National Practitioner Phone
Forum about navigating www.IRS.gov on May
17, 2006. Attendees will get a thorough description of the numerous
resources available on IRS.gov, including the ‘Tax Professionals’ main page.
A demonstration on the search features of IRS.gov will be shown. Please
register at www.attevent.com.
Participants will first need to create a profile and then return to the
registration screen to register for the phone forum. Additional details
about the times for the call and access numbers are posted on the
association’s homepage, www.ncacpa.org. |
