Annual Business Meeting: The annual business meeting of the association will be held on Sunday evening, May 7, 2006, at the Grandover Resort and Conference Center. A reception will begin at 6:00 pm, followed by the dinner meeting. The dinner meeting will open with recognition of outstanding member contributions made to the profession and association over the past year. The formal business of the association will follow, including voting on the nominees for 2006-07 Board of Directors. There is no registration fee, but members are requested to register in advance so sufficient seating can be arranged. Members may register on the association’s website or by calling the Member Service Center at (800) 469-1352.

Outstanding Member Nominations: Many members of this association contribute their time and talents to make NCACPA great! Please take the time to recognize such members! Please log onto the association’s website, www.ncacpa.org, and complete a nominating form. The association has awards for the Outstanding Educator; Outstanding Member in Government; Outstanding Member in Business and Industry; Public Service; and the Raymond Rains Award, which recognizes outstanding service to NCACPA. The deadline for submission of nominations is March 1, 2006. Nominations received after that date will be held for the following year. Nominations should be forwarded to Jim Ahler, NCACPA Executive Director.

Secretary of State: Clients with LLCs have recently received “notices of dissolution” from the Secretary of State. The association has been in conversation with Elaine Marshall. As a result, Secretary Marshall issued a statement regarding a 2002 law change that precipitated the confusion. This information has been posted on the Secretary of State’s website, www.secretary.state.nc.us/corporations. Additionally, this statement and other tax information can be found on the association’s homepage, www.ncacpa.org, under “Important Tax Links.”

NC Department Of Revenue: The association is aware of delays occurring again this year in approval of tax software and forms. The association understands that all 2006 forms have been approved. Plans are being developed for a meeting this summer with NCDOR personnel and software vendors to discuss ways to avoid this problem in the future.
