Taxation Committee

Furthers the development of fair and reasonable systems of taxation at the federal, state, and local level. Attempts to increase members' awareness of the responsibilities and opportunities for service in the various areas of taxation. Enhances the public's understanding of the CPA's special competence in the field of taxation. Plans and conducts an annual meeting with the IRS and the NC Department of Revenue.

Strategy:           Action:             
Increase member awareness of tax law changes. Publish results of the annual meetings with the IRS and NC Department of Revenue.

Publish "Member Advantage" fax broadcasts on urgent changes.
Represent members before taxing authorities. Meet annually with IRS and NC DoR to discuss changes.
Promote positive legislation and/or regulation in the taxation area. Interact with the Revenue Laws Committee of the General Assembly.

Produce and distribute the Legislator's Tax Guide.
Increase member awareness of tax matters. The Committee will produce articles for the Interim Report on important emerging tax issues.
Increase the association's impact on standard setting. The Committee will respond as appropriate to all exposure drafts dealing with tax issues.
Technical Assistance Program, to help members with their professional responsibilities. The Committee will attempt to answer certain tax questions as these questions relate to a member's expertise for members.
The Committee will support the Association's educational activities for its members. The committee will assist in the development of the NC State and Local Tax Conference.
