Governmental Accounting & Auditing Committee

Attempts to further recognition and development of generally accepted accounting principles as well as auditing standards and procedures for government entities. Responds to exposure drafts. Informs members of new standards. Plans governmental auditing CPE programs offered by NCACPA.

2007-2008 Action Plan
Strategy:           Action:             
Provide NCACPA with CPE offerings in the field of governmental accounting, auditing and financial reporting. Review all applicable course offerings, as well as opportunities for other offerings, and recommend final roster of governmental accounting, auditing and financial reporting courses to the NCACPA CPE Committee. Organize and develop annual NCACPA Local Government Conferences held in late Spring/early Summer in two locations statewide (east and west locations)
Provide guidance on implementation of all GASB Pronouncements and Interpretations. Review applicable GASB Pronouncements and Interpretations, critique and then provide comments, suggestions and recommendations for implementation.
Outstanding Member in Government Awards. Select NC candidate for national Member in Government Award.
State Treasurer's Awards. Review entries by category and choose winners for the State Treasurer's annual awards for innovations in governmental financial operations.
Provide networking opportunities for members interested in or currently practicing in the field of governmental accounting, auditing and financial reporting. Provide forums for discussion of governmental practice issues and concerns.
 
Inform membership of applicable AICPA actions. The committee will prepare articles of interest on governmental accounting and auditing topics for the membership.
