Governmental Accounting & Auditing Committee

Attempts to further recognition and development of generally accepted accounting principles as well as auditing standards and procedures for government entities. Responds to exposure drafts. Informs members of new standards. Plans governmental auditing CPE programs offered by NCACPA.

Strategy:     Action:
Engage financial literacy volunteers.   Develop a "Welcome Kit" for new and existing financial literacy volunteers, including orientation to available resources, training materials, contract, and logo item.
Train financial literacy volunteers.   Provide training events. Welcome kits may also be combined with/used as training manuals. Cost breakdown: Estimate $100/person for speaker fees, facility rental, F&B.
 
    Establish volunteer contract outlining expectations for volunteer conduct.
Mobilize financial literacy volunteers.   Promote existing presentation kits to volunteers with ideas for implementation. (Would like to see 20% of volunteers participate in at least one engagement in 07-08.)
    Establish an online sharing library for presentations.
Support chapters with financial literacy initiatives.   Establish chapter liaisons.
    Provide volunteer opportunities and presentation kits to chapters to implement and engage volunteers.
Plan for future financial literacy needs.   Establish a standing long-range planning subcomittee for the Council.
Establish relationships to promote financial literacy.   Acquire a contact list for all NC high schools and colleges.
    Establish relationships with key legislative and governmental contacts, including DPI, the state auditor, state treasurer, and health and human services.
    Establish contacts with other financial literacy organizations to identify partnership and volunteer opportunities.
Hold minimum of four full Council meetings per year   Two meetings will coincide with Leadership Retreat (included in Leadership budget) and Chapter Boot Camp, with two stand-alone meetings. Cost breakdown: $250 each for Nov & Jan mtgs; $3500 for Boot Camp (includes room nights for ~14 and room rental)
