Membership Directory Other Points of Interest Technical Assistance Programs Child Care If you dont have access to a resource and referral service through work, there is another good option for child care questions: Child Care Aware (1-800-424-2246) is a national information helpline that connects callers to public resource and referral programs in their communities. They also provide brochures on choosing quality care, a take-along checklist for interviewing child care providers and numerous tipsheets at no cost. A number of agencies can explain the child care choices in your area. They may be able to help find openings and ways to pay for child care. CHATHAM COUNTY Child Care Subsidy and Referral
Program - Child Care Networks Subsidy funds (including Smart Start) are administered to eligible families to help with the cost of child care. Also provides referral service helping families locate and choose quality child care. Reaching Out to Latino Families Child Care Networks Provides a variety of services to families, the community, and child care providers including referral services, technical assistance, and training for health and human service providers, The Latino Program helps Spanish speaking families find quality, affordable child care and trains Spanish speaking child care providers. DURHAM COUNTY Totline - Durham Child Care Council Provides support, child care referrals, publications, and information for families about quality child care, child care regulations, and child development. Information available on centers, child care homes, preschools, play groups, nanny services, home health agensies, and school-age care of all kinds. Provides maps of Durham child care centers. ORANGE COUNTY Day Care Services Association Offers assistance in locating child care placements in centers, homes, or your own home. Information about choosing care, quality components, regulations, accreditation, and tax credit is available. WAKE COUNTY Child Care Resource and Referral of
Wake Co. Provides telephone information and referral service which assists parents in locating and selecting child care for children 0-12 years old. Information is available on child care centers, family child care homes, evening and overnight child care, sick care, drop-in care, and summer camps. Provides written guidelines on how to select child care, as well as a map of providers in Wake County. SmartStart Child Care Assistance Program provides financial assistance for child care expenses. School Age Child Care Sometimes referred to as "latch key," school age child care means child care before and after school. Ask your childs school if they have such a program.
