2008–09 Action Plan

Strategy:     Action:
Plan an industry-specific conference for
the spring.
Identify topics and speakers; make initial
speaker contacts.
Plan an industry-specific conference for
the fall.
Networking reception after the first day of
the conference.
Enhance MIBI offerings.   Develop/deploy a member survey to help in determining types of programming, length of offerings, mode of delivery, topics, and level.
Identify need for an executive level training programming.   As part of the survey, include questioning to determine the interest level for executive level training for upcoming CFO’s and controllers. Program development would begin in 2009 and launched in 2010.
Provide at least two "hot topic"
webinars.
Deliver a "hot topic" webinar in June and one in October on issues impacting business. Additional offerings may be offered, based on suggestions from Technical/Regulatory Subcommittee.
Ensure MIBI is represented on the Trends Team and on the PD Committee.   Identify at least one MIBI member to participate in 2008. Identify at least three MIBI members to participate in annual CPE selection process.
Utilize the MIBI List Serve for a peer-to-peer member resource tool.   Re-establish the MIBI List Serve; develop questions and monitor responses; promote its existence through post cards, eNews, and other means available.
Identify means to engage MIBI on a national level.   Maintain NC's representation on the AICPA's MIBI Committee and/or enhance relationships with AICPA MIBI staff.
Write or Identify an author and topic for at least one article per issue of Interim Report.   Bi-Annually, assign members to write or recruit authors for at least the next three issues.
Increase MIBI Members awareness of standard setting announcements and changes.   Monitor, communicate, and respond (if applicable) to standard setters (FASB, AICPA, IASB, & SEC) most recent projects, final accounting standards issued, and exposure drafts.
Renew annual subscription to Industry newsletter developed by the Maryland Society.   Process annual payment for service. Edit and augment content according to NCACPA branding standards and applicable information.
Foster MIBIs presence at the Chapter level and with Young CPAs.   Establish a relationship with Chapters with higher concentrations of MIBI members to determine how they can be more effective regionally. Provide quarterly updates in the Interim Report of MIBI Chapter and YCPA activities.
Assist in retaining MIBI members and committee recruitment.   Committee recruitment: recruit ten new members, two from a top-ten member organization. Peer-to-peer response from member dues forms.
Promote MIBI committee activities to the membership via a post card or other marketing mediums.
Promote the importance of the CPA to Business.   Create a marketing piece for employers outlining the importance of the CPA credential and licensing requirements. Identify at least one key market business journal to publish an article discussing CPA regulations, value, etc.
General Committee Work.   General funds to cover the costs of meetings, meals, etc., if needed.
