TRIANGLE CHAPTER CHARITY COMMITTEE

The Triangle Chapter Charity Committee was formed to provide an avenue for NCACPA members to get more involved with area organizations and work together with fellow CPAs. This page serves as a central location for members to get information on the current needs in their communities. Volunteer opportunities and information concerning local organizations are listed below.


Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program
Date: January–April 2012
Location: Chatham, Durham, Orange, and Wake Counties
Opportunity: The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) is ramping up and they need your help. The VITA Program offers free tax help to people who generally make $50,000 or less and need assistance in preparing their own tax returns. There are various locations across the Triangle where you can serve and training is provided.

The Center for Volunteer Caregiving

Location: Wake County
Opportunity: The Center is always in need of volunteers throughout Wake County to provide "neighbor helping neighbor" services to help seniors and adults with disabilities maintain independence, dignity, and quality of life. One of the services you will provide is assistance with paperwork.

Habitat for Humanity

Opportunity: Habitat for Humanity is looking for volunteers to aid in budget counseling for their chronic mortgage offenders.

Leaflight, Inc.

Opportunity: Leaflight, Inc., a nonprofit agency, of Chapel Hill that operates and directs the NC 21st Century Farmers’ Markets program, is looking for volunteers to help with their tremendous growth through various volunteer opportunities.

Ronald McDonald House of Durham

The Ronald McDonald House of Durham operates two programs to support families in their time of medical crisis: a housing program for families that must travel long distances for their children to receive treatment, as well as a Family Room in Duke Medical Center to allow families to escape the hospital atmosphere but remain steps from their child’s bedside.
