General Information

Course Catalog
The ReSource is a listing of NCACPA's course offerings and is available for you to download and print. The ReSource catalog is published in March. To access the most up-to-date event information, please visit our online course catalog.

Certificate of Completion
To earn the recommended CPE hours offered for seminars and conferences, you must submit the top white copy of your Certificate of Completion at the conclusion of the program. (Be sure to keep the back yellow copy for your personal CPE file.) In accordance with the North Carolina State Board of CPA Examiners’ (State Board) CPE guidelines for approved CPE sponsors, we maintain CPE attendance records for five years.

If you should arrive late or need to leave an event early, it is your responsibility to adjust your CPE credit accordingly. As an approved CPE sponsor, we must follow the guidelines set forth by the State Board. Credit is granted only for the actual contact time in the classroom. NCACPA does not have the authority to make exceptions to the CPE credit rules, and our onsite program administrators are obligated to make note of late arrivals or early departures.

Course Cancellation Policy
While our overall cancellation rate is low, a program may cancel if a sufficient number of registrations are not received, or if an instructor must cancel due to illness. Whenever possible, the decision to cancel a program is made at least seven days prior to the event date, and participants are notified once the decision is made. Before making your travel arrangements, you may contact NCACPA to inquire about the status of any event at (800) 469-1352. If the distance to the event site requires you to make airline and/or hotel reservations, please keep in mind NCACPA will not be held responsible for monetary loss due to cancellations or changes in air or hotel reservations. (Most hotels require a 72-hour advance notice to avoid a cancellation fee.)

Date/Location Change
We contract for meeting space well in advance of the event and try our best to estimate the number of attendees. Occasionally, late registrations may increase the class size beyond the space limits of the meeting room, potentially forcing us to change venues. If a location changes, we will notify you as soon as possible by either phone or email. For this reason, please make sure we have your home telephone number and email address in our database.

Event Times
NCACPA sponsors a variety of CPE events through conferences and seminars. Start and end times vary. Please refer to your
confirmation form for specific schedules. Also, be sure to allow enough time for traffic, parking, and check-in. If you should arrive late or depart early, you must adjust your CPE credit accordingly.

  • Eight-hour seminars begin promptly at 8:30 am and conclude at 4:15 pm (with a 30-minute lunch break) unless otherwise indicated. Four-hour programs will either be from 8:30 am - 12:15 pm or 1:00 - 4:45 pm.
  • Don Farmer programs begin at 8:30 am and conclude at 4:30 pm (with a 45-minute lunch break).
  • Conferences and two-hour programs begin at varying times (please consult the specific event brochure or check online for more details).
  • Course check in for all events begins thirty minutes prior to course start times.

Inclement Weather
Should the weather warrant any concern for your travel safety and you want to verify a particular event or meeting will be held as scheduled, please call the NCACPA office at (919) 469-1040, Ext. 122, or (800) 722-2836, Ext. 122, for a recorded message. When inclement weather results in the cancellation of a class, we will attempt to notify you as soon as possible. As you know, inclement weather can strike quickly and may prevent us from making contact with participants.

Participant Feedback
We are confident you will receive high-quality instruction from our professional speakers. However, even the best instructors appreciate constructive and candid feedback, an essential tool for self-improvement. Online evaluation forms will be emailed at the conclusion of every program. A summary letter containing participant comments is provided to the speakers after the program. Individual names are not shared with speakers to ensure confidentiality. Comments are also shared with the planning committees/task forces, meeting facilities, and catering companies.

Sold-Out Events
We make every attempt to estimate the number of attendees, however you may experience a “sold-out” situation due to the amount of space or materials available.

Walk-In Registrations
While we realize you cannot always plan in advance, we may not be able to accept walk-in registrations at our events. The onsite program administrator will be able to provide you with the latest registration information. Full payment for any NCACPA event is due at the time of registration. Materials may need to be mailed to you following the program.

Event Location Information

Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
If you need special assistance to participate in an NCACPA event, please contact the Member Service Center at (800) 469-1352 prior to the program.

Communication Devices
As a courtesy to your fellow CPE participants and the program instructor, please refrain from using all communication devices, including cell phones, pagers, handheld devices, and laptops. Cell phones, pagers, and handheld devices settings should be turned off or set to vibrate.

Dietary Restrictions
NCACPA provides meals as part of most CPE events. If you have a specific dietary restriction (e.g. vegetarian, food allergies), please contact the Member Service Center in advance of the event. (A note will be made in your member record.) If you have made prearrangements, please mention this to the host facility’s wait staff to ensure you receive your requested meal.

Dress Code
Business casual attire is recommended. For your comfort, we suggest dressing in layers to accommodate typical variations in meeting room temperatures.

Express Check-in
Avoid long lines by presenting a printed copy of your event confirmation to our onsite program administrators, who will facilitate express check-in at most events. Please make sure your name appears on the confirmation to assist us with CPE recordkeeping. If you do not receive an email confirmation within 3 business days of registration, please call our Member Service Center at (800) 469-1352.

Hotel Accommodations
For larger events, NCACPA may reserve a block of sleeping rooms. Please note:

  • NCACPA is not responsible for making hotel reservations for participants.
  • Room blocks are usually held until one month prior to the event.
  • Many hotels require a 72-hour (or greater) cancellation notice in order to avoid a penalty.
  • NCACPA is not responsible for sleeping room cancellation penalties incurred for any reason.
  • To make a reservation, contact the hotel directly. Hotel information is listed in the specific event brochure, or you can search for event details in the online CPE catalog.

Travel Policy
Event participants are responsible for making their own travel and/or hotel arrangements. NCACPA does not assume financial responsibility for penalties or expenses incurred by registrants who must cancel travel arrangements due to course cancellation.

Parking
NCAPA strives to select facilities that do not charge for parking. However, on occasion we must select a facility that may charge for parking. If an event has parking fees, participants will be notified in advance of any parking fees and arrangements.
